100 Years of Family and Innovation

When the world’s first direct-illuminating ophthalmoscope debuted in 1915, it fundamentally changed the way physicians would diagnose and care for patients. For the first time, they had a simple, easy-to-use instrument that allowed them to see ocular and vascular indications of disease by simply peering through an illuminated lens. This innovation in instrumentation began a century of pioneering at Welch Allyn.

Today, the same spirit of caring and innovation that drove Dr. Francis Welch and William Noah Allyn to that first discovery flows strongly through the veins of Welch Allyn. Walk with us through the last 100 years of memories—from hard work and risk, to laughter and celebration.

With such a rich history, imagine what we can accomplish in the next 100 years!
