The award is designed to celebrate and reward trailblazing nurses who have gone out of their way to work effectively, efficiently and empathetically with their patients and have introduced new techniques to solve problems and help improve lives.

This year there will be three categories pioneering hospital nurse, pioneering practice nurse and pioneering elderly care nurse

The winner of each category will be awarded a £500 bursary and a Pioneers of Care trophy, which will be presented at the King’s Fund, Central London on the 7^th June 2013.
